Homes for 55 and Better

Several of our communities feature homes that are specially designed for adults 55 and better.

Residents enjoy low-maintenance living in a ranch-style home.  Gone are the responsibilities of cutting the grass, raking the leaves, and shoveling the snow.

At some locations, the homes are available for purchase, offering residents many of the benefits of home ownership without many of the worries.

At other locations, homes are available on a rental basis for low-income older adults.

Residents of all of our homes enjoy priority access to any of our senior living, assisted living, affordable assisted living or memory care apartments, should the need arise.

Senior Living Apartments

Our senior living apartments are designed for adults 55 and older, combining the opportunity to enjoy residential apartment home living with the availability of a variety of convenience and support services.

The apartments are available on a rental basis, with no Entrance Fee or Community Fee required.  A variety of floor plans are available, with each apartment featuring a full kitchen.

Monthly fees are highly competitive and surprisingly affordable.  Maintenance and repairs, most utilities, the main meal each day, flat linen laundry services, housekeeping and scheduled transportation are included.  Additional services are available on an ala carte basis.

A variety of community areas are available for use by residents of the apartments.

In addition, residents of our senior living apartments enjoy priority access to any of our assisted living and affordable assisted living apartments, should the need arise.

Assisted Living

Our assisted living apartments serve as a wonderful residential alternative to a nursing home for older adults who may need some help to maintain their independence but do not require skilled nursing care.

Our goal is to preserve the dignity and independence of each resident while providing the personal assistance and services that each resident needs.

Residents live in private apartments that feature a kitchenette, spacious bathroom and emergency call system.  A variety of floor plans are available as well as a variety of community areas for residents to socialize with family, friends and neighbors.

Certified nurses assistances and personal care attendants are on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week provide personal assistance with medications and activities of daily living.  Individualized service plans are developed for each resident based on the assessments conducted by the community’s licensed nurse.

Three meals a day, housekeeping and laundry services as well as health monitoring and wellness programs are included in the monthly fee.

Affordable Assisted Living

BMA is the leader in the development of affordable assisted living communities.

Our communities are designed to serve older adults of all incomes, especially those who cannot afford market-rate assisted living.

The communities provide a wonderful alternative to a nursing home or to struggling alone at home for those who may need some help to maintain their independence.

We strongly believe that the need for assistance as we age does not mean having to give up one’s dignity, privacy and personal choice.  Our emphasis is on helping each resident to maintain their health, wellness, dignity and independence.

At our affordable assisted living communities, residents live in private apartments that feature a kitchenette, bathroom and emergency call system.  A variety of floor plans are available, with residents furnishing and decorating the apartment to their taste.

Staff is on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide personal assistance with medications and activities of daily living.  Meal, housekeeping and laundry services are included in the monthly fee.

For those with long-term care insurance that covers assisted living, benefits are likely to apply.  For those without the financial resources to afford the monthly fee, financial assistance is available for those who qualify.

Supportive Living

Supportive living is a special program developed by the State of Illinois to benefit older adults who may need some help to maintain their independence.  The program emphasizes personal choice, dignity, privacy and individuality.

Providing a wonderful alternative to nursing home care or to struggling alone at home, supportive living communities combine the opportunity to live in a residential environment with the availability of personal assistance and other services.  Older adults of all incomes, including those on Medicaid or who only receive Social Security benefits, can qualify for residency.

BMA has been involved with the Supportive Living program in Illinois since its inception and are leaders in the development and operation of affordable assisted lifestyle communities that are certified to operate through the Supportive Living program.  Communities are located throughout the state, from as far north as McHenry to as far south as Carbondale. 

At our communities, residents live in private apartments that feature a kitchenette, spacious bathroom and emergency call system.  Certified nurses assistants are on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide help with medications, and personal assistance with such activities of daily living as bathing, grooming, dressing, and getting to and from the dining room and activities.  Three meals a day, housekeeping and laundry are among the services included in the monthly fee.  There are no leveling charges or Entrance or Community Fees due at the time of occupancy.

For those with long-term care insurance that covers assisted living, benefits are likely to apply.  For those without the financial resources to afford the monthly fee, financial assistance is available for those who qualify.

Memory Care

Our Memory Care apartments are designed to meet the special needs of older adults with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia.  Our focus is to enhance the dignity and well-being of each resident in an atmosphere that is warm, comfortable and secure.
